~Happy New Year~

Happy New Year, dear friends!!!
I trust you are enjoying your first day of 2019!

I just finished up this sweet little pillow that seems to fit this time of year perfectly!

Jack Frost, by Notforgotten Farm!
Though we don't get snow here where I live, it has been chilly and he fits right in with the
spirit of winter!!!
I just love his sweet face, don't you?!

Another project I am working on is Alphabet Sampler, also by Notforgotten Farm
and I just love this color palette I have chosen!!

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, so it is not too early to get busy making hearts,
one of my favorite shapes!!!

With the colder weather here, soup is THE PERFECT meal!  This morning I made a huge
pot of Turkey Carcass Soup!!!  The name may not sound that good, but believe me,
this soup is AMAZING!!!
It is loaded with carrots, green beans, celery, onion, corn, wild rice, and shredded turkey!
I just wish I had a "SNIFF" button on my blog so you could smell it!!!
We will certainly be enjoying it!!

We LOVE bread, too, and will also have this with it!!
Our local Safeway carries it and it is just wonderful with soup!!
Just heat it up in the oven and add some butter!!
What could be better???

To finish off the meal, we will also enjoy some dessert bread that I made!!
It is really more like a cake and is actually made with YELLOW SQUASH!!!!
It is called Lemony Yellow Squash Bread, and it is DELICIOUS!!!!  TRULY!!!!!
The lemon glaze on top really makes it yummy!!!

What will you be having to celebrate the first day of the year??

**************

I want to take this time to thank all of you who have followed along with me this past year, and have purchased many of my hand made creations as well!!!  Your kindness, friendship, and support has been a tremendous blessing to me personally, and I appreciate each and every one of you!!! Thank you for making 2018 so special and I look forward to sharing the blessings of 2019 with you!!!

I found this sweet prayer and thought how perfectly it sums up my feelings as we start this brand new year together!!!

Lord, as the New Year dawns today,
Help me to put my faults away.

      Let me be big in little things;

      Grant me the joy which friendship brings;
Keep me from selfishness and spite,
Let me be wise to what is right.
A Happy New Year! grant that I
May cause no tear to any eye.
When this new year in time shall end,
Let it be said: "I've played the friend,
Have lived and loved and labored here
And made of it a happy year."
~Edgar Guest (1881–1959), "Prayer for the New Year"

Wishing each of you Good Things to Warm the Heart and Soul this coming year~

Love your snowman pillow and looking forward to seeing your finished needle punch heart.

I also make soup from the bones and meat left over from Thanksgiving and love mine too. Last night I made black eye peas which is a southern tradition and something my mother always fixed for the New Year. But soon will use up some of my turkey and frozen broth.

I've made zucchini bread, which is delicious but never made the lemon yellow squash recipe. Will have to look that up next time I'm in the mood for some sweetness.

Happy New Year, Julie!! I really loved that New Year's prayer that you shared. It puts things into perspective for me in such simple words. And I must say that pot of turkey soup and pending baked was to die for!! Perfect meal and start to a new 2019!!

We have had a week of warm and humid weather so the AC has been on and it felt sort of mixed up with a Christmas tree up!! I do miss the snow and have many memories of building snowmen when I was young and lived in Virginia. There is something magical about one standing tall in one's yard all dressed out and smiliing. January is the perfect SnowFriend month!!

I hope your new year is off to a great start and I look forward to seeing what you create this year!! The projects are always so interesting and beautiful!!

Hi Winnie,
Hope your New Year has started out just right!! It has actually been COLD here! We even had some ice on the sidewalk this morning on our walk...something I have not seen here before! The temp was 30 degrees but with the wind it actually felt like 27!!!!!! Felt like I was back in MI!! The sun will warm things up though and the high will be 57!!
I'm so happy you loved the prayer! I thought it just said it all!! The soup WAS DELICIOUS and we will be enjoying it again tonight and freezing some for another time!! I just LOVE SOUP!!!!
Hard to believe you had the AC on, but sometimes that happens!! I'm sure many would just love to be in FL rather than where they are and that would sound like heaven to them!! I do miss the snow at times, too!!
Thanks so much for your lovely comments and encouragement over this past year!! It is always so nice to hear from you, Winnie!!!
Take care and hope 2019 is a Blessed year for us all!

Hi Julie,
I do believe that I am able to again leave comments. We will see! It is always a pleasure visiting. My time for some R & R. Nothing much else gets done when I am in this mode and I have lots to do. Packing away some of the Christmas decor and just ole cleaning... yuk. All your creations are looking awesome. It is probably a good thing (for me) that we are still trying to scale down. Not having lots of luck. I'd like one of each, then I could do that 'Happy Dance' which makes me look like a weird idiot. Got a tiny bit of rain early this a.m. Still cold, but I love it for time of year ... more holidayish. Soup and Chili are on the menu this week. Today, I do not cook... any suggestions?
Wishing you much Peace, Health and Blessings for 2019, Warm Regards, Barb

Hi Barb,
So happy you can leave comments!! I know that can be SO FRUSTRATING when you can't!! Happy it is working!!! I think all of us who do happy dances are pretty funny to others, but it sure does feel good doing it!!!
Soup and Chili sure do sound good!! It has actually been COLD here in AZ and I am just not used to the cold anymore!! It will actually get up to 70 today which is the warmest it has been, but I am really enjoying the cooler temps and my walks!! It will get really HOT soon enough so I will enjoy this weather while I can!!! Hope your hubby is doing better, too!!
Hope you are doing something fun and creative today!!!
Take care and it is always so nice to have you visit!!
Heart Hugs, my friend~
