Hello, dear friends!

In my last post, I shared how I had started rug hooking and was about to begin the background!

I am happy to announce that it is all finished!!

It was such a delight for me to hook this sweet mat

and I am so very happy with how it turned out!!

I love all the different shades that create movement!

Lovely shades of deep black, brown, charcoal, and gray!

I love the dark colors alongside the oranges and greens!

Wonderful swirly stem!

Sweet loop of color!

I finished the back with black tape!

There was LOTS of hand stitching!

I realized I  had to fold and iron the tape quite a bit to fit the oval shape

but I hope I did it correctly!!

I am so excited to decorate with it this fall

and am so happy I got it finished!!

If you would like to make this mat

just contact Kris Miller at Spruce Ridge Studios!

Many, many thanks again to all of you who encouraged me

and I am excited to start another one......

hopefully, soon!!!

I guess you could say....

I am HOOKED!!!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend, my friends~

A most Happy Day to you!!

I am sooo excited as I type this post today!!

I have finally realized a

I Started to HOOK!!!!

Here is my VERY FIRST RUG!!

It is a wonderful pattern called PUMPKIN PATCH,

by Kris Miller of Spruce Ridge Studios!

I called her to order it from her website

and had a wonderful chat with her!!

She was so helpful and answered my questions,

addressed some fears and really encouraged me!

Her kits are just wonderful, complete with cut wool strips,

and great instuctions!!  Mine even came with a hook and rug tape!!

Please be sure to check out her site for more great kits and rugs!!

I also ordered her new book, Introduction to Rug Hooking,

and it has been very helpful as well!!!

You can order it from her, or get it on Amazon!

Many Thanks, Kris!!

My friend Ruth, who owns THE WOOL LADY,

in Temecula, CA,

actually taught me the "How To's" of rug hooking!

It really helped me personally

to be able to see someone do it and then show me how!!

She knows how to do so many of the needle arts,

teaches all kinds of classes,

and has wonderful wool and yarn,

as well as other supplies for your needs!!

Be sure to stop by if you are in the area!!

Many Thanks, Ruth!!

I know I am still learning, but I feel pretty good about my start!

What do you think??

So many of you ladies who hook have had a huge influence

on me,

both directly, and indirectly,

and I thank you all so much!!

Here is a picture of my frame!

I bought it a long time ago at a Thrift Shop,

and after so many years of storing it,

it is FINALLY being put to good use!!

Right now I am working on the background

so I am getting close to the binding part!!!

I am a bit nervous about that, but will take it

one step at a time,

and hopefully, I will be able to do that with no hitches!!!

Wish me luck, and any advice or hints would be welcome!!!

This has been a LONG TIME DREAM I have had,

that has finally come true!!!

Let me just say that if YOU are reading this,

and have had fears that you can't do this,

 YOU CAN!!!!

Don't put it off any longer!!

You will be SO GLAD YOU DID!!!

Wishing you all a "DREAM COME TRUE" kind of day~

Hello, dear friends!

Is is really June 2nd already??

Many of you are busy working in your gardens

enjoying the warmer weather and playing in the dirt!!!

Sadly, I do NOT have a green thumb

as far as real plants are concerned

I can still manage to "grow"  some of my own fruit

via fabric, needle, and thread!

Here is my recent "harvest" of

Nestled in a large wooden trencher

Resting on a wool penny rug that I made

Love all the reds and green together!!

They almost look good enough to eat!!

In keeping with the nature theme

I also love to collect old tomato pincushions

and thought I would share some of my favorites!

Old and worn with a large emery,

Tucked in a sweet tiny teacup

Inside an old baby shoe!

I just love them, don't you??

I was reading an old book of mine the other day,

Aged to Perfection by Country Living!

It is filled with wonderful photos and great ideas for decorating!

Suddenly, I came to this page.........

Be Still My Heart!!!!!

I just happened to have an old jar that I was saving for something special

and decided to made my own

Tomatoes under Glass!!

I couldn't be more pleased!!!

I have also been working on some new items

for a new update,

coming in the next week!!

Here is a little sneak peek!

Hope you will stay tuned and check back

for the date!!
