~MY CREATIVE STYLE~

Happy Wednesday, dear friends!

It's a chilly one here in Arizona, but the sun is shining
 and that makes it a good day for me!!

Hope it is a good day where you are!!!

~~~~~*~~~~~
Normally, I try to keep things neat and tidy around here and as a rule
 I do love order and neatness,
with ONE EXCEPTION..........
When I CREATE!!!
This is what my dining room table looks like at the moment.....
CREATIVE CHAOS!!!
Hand drawn patterns of strawberries!
All different shapes and sizes!
Fabric choices! Love this paisley!
Red velvet hearts waiting to be stitched and stuffed!
A lone drumstick, chop sticks, and a ruler are trusty tools!
Lovely clutter to get those creative wheels turning!
A notebook filled with all my creations for reference!
A BEAUTIFUL DISASTER to make my heart flutter (and my husband shudder!)
(Actually he is very good about my "Creative Chaos" and understands how I work!
It also helps that he has his own office space where he can work in peace!!!)
~~~~~*~~~~~

I know that out of this MESS will come BEAUTY,
 so I happily play among the clutter
 and dream of what will be!!

This is My Creative Style!

~~~~~*~~~~~
What is Your creative style?
What is your creative space like?  Does it look like mine, or do you have to be neat and organized?
Which ever way you might choose,
 if it WORKS for you, then it is RIGHT for you!!!
So get out those patterns, drawings, and fabric, and GET CREATIVE!!!
Organized OR Chaotic, it will bring you JOY!!
Now WHERE did I put that spool of red thread.........???
~~~~*~~~~

Wishing you a day filled with the beauty and joy of creativity, my friends~

It all looks wonderful to me!! If we were neat and orderly...we would never get anything done! I'm constantly cleaning and reorganizing my sewing room....What ever you're making, I know will be just beautiful!!Have a fun, fun day making "stuff"!

Thank you, Bobbie! It's funny because all of these pieces were originally very organized and then once they hit the table......it becomes a cluttered mess!! I am a very "visual" person, so when it is all organized, I just can't "see" it!! Once I am done, it all gets put away and then on to the next "creative bomb!" Thanks so much for your sweet words, my friend!
Hope you are having a creative day!

Oh my gosh Julie...this looks like me but on a smaller scale. LOL My creative mess is usually in every room except the bedrooms. Always love your strawberries! Janice

Boy do I remember all the pieces of paper leftover from anything which would be used as a pattern template, lol. And..... can also remember using dowels those hard plastic lengths put in shoes to keep them straight until they were sold and tossed by the buyer. Except this buyer kept them as a stuffing tool for my dolls and other crafts.

Then I purchased some hemostats to grasp the stuffing so it could be directed straight to where it was needed. Oh the past joys of creating dolls and other crafs..... Oh, I also still have all my notebooks with those plastic page protectors which house my individual patterns.

Thanks Janice and Saundra! Yes, I do tend to take my projects with me, but my big "creative mess" is usually on the dining room table, as it is the biggest flat surface!!! I also save all papers and cardboard, including cereal boxes that I cut up, to use for pattern shapes or to draw on! I have a favorite pair of hemostats that I still use and the notebook has pictures of all the things I have made for easy reference!
Creating can be messy, but oh so rewarding!!!
Hope you both enjoy your week!

Julie this is a delightful post...I'm yearning for some time to create and know I'd feel comfortable in your clutter...my sewing room is only clean when I don't have any mojo...otherwise my thread and wool take over a couple of rooms...can't wait to see what you create!

I LOVE IT...Julie! Looks sooo familiar! Got a chuckle out of this post seeing all your projects (a'flutter) & spread out over your entire dining table in HAPPY CHAOS!! I feel in good company knowing I'm not the only creative one who "takes over" a table, a room (even our house at times in various rooms) ...and whose husband just sighs in support (and shudder) too. I believe it is very (similar & familiar) in many "other creative" homes too! :)
Enjoy & Happy Creating!♥ ~~ Diane (Mr. Squirrel says 'hi')

Hi Kelley and Diane! It is so good to find other "kindred spirits" who love to create amidst clutter!! It is so hard to keep things neat when those creative feelings come, and you both truly understand that!!
Hope you both have a wonderful creative week!!

Ohhh sweet Julie, me thinks our Creative Style is very much the same. CANNOT wait to see those hearts and strawberries and I love the fabrics you have chosen. What a great idea to include all your creations for reference in an organized notebook. Hmmmm, sounds like it's a winner to me.
Somehow my messy, cluttered table in the nook (we no longer eat there) gives me much pleasure. It is my comfort zone.

Sadly, January will soon be a thing of the past...such is life.
Anyways, EnJoY the rest of it and keep on creating,
Peace for ALL,
Barb

Looks like you'll have some fabulous pieces in the aftermath!

Hi Barb and Marly,
Thanks so much for visiting and I truly appreciate your comments!!
Barb, we all need some special place to "spread out" and give freedom to our creativity, whether it be a dining room/kitchen table, or a small nook! So happy you love my fabric choices!
Marly, your comment made me laugh and I am looking forward to showing what comes from my "creative bomb" on my table!!
Hope you both enjoy your week!

Julie,
How wonderful that you keep a notebook. I wish I was half as organized as you! When I hook it's in the "hooking room", but if the machine must come out, my dining room table turns to chaos.
Your strawberries are THE BEST!
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Lauren,
Jeff is the one who had the idea for the notebook and it has been a tremendous help to both of us, and HE is really the one who is organized! Actually, I START OUT organized, but once I start working......you see the results on my table!!!lol
Once I am done though, it does all go back to its organized state!
Glad I am in such good company!!!
Hope you are enjoying your week, my friend!

Julie,
I'm not getting your updates for some reason, probably on my end.
I love the creative mess! For me, it's the creative part, looking at all that's laid out and my mind starts to swirl
with so many ideas. I also have a notebook with all kinds of pictures, paint colors, fabrics etc. That's probably
the only organization. Love your ideas for the strawberries. Let the chaos begin!

Julie - My Primitive Heart said...

Hi Marcia,
Not sure why it works sometimes and then doesn't other times!! Technology is certainly a puzzle to me!!!!
I know many people need things neat and organized, but when I am trying to get creative and inspired, it just helps me when I can "see it" and then the creativity comes!! I've actually been getting things cut out, stitched up, and stuffed!!! Yay!!!
Enjoy your weekend and thanks for your visit!!

Now we know why you are so creative, grin!
I love the work space, and that notebook!
My mess is wherever I happen to end up.
Right now in front of the fireplace. It's too cold outside.
I have been redoing a roadside salvaged coffee table.
The legs were pretty queen ann, nut the top was a mess!
It has good bones though, and I haven't painted in awhile.
My favorite tools have been in use, mostly.
Paper towels, a toothbrush, and paper plates, and used up sand paper.
My fingers are my favorite tools, that comes tomorrow.
Hoping to see those hearts and strawberries!

Hi Annie,
Thanks so much for stopping by!!! Your project sounds like a fun challenge and I'm sure you will work your "magic" to give that old table new life and a new look!!! Hard work and a little "elbow grease" always pays off!!!
I'm making slow but sure progress on my work and will share it soon!!
Hope you stay warm and have fun with that project!!

I find it hard to create without making somewhat of a mess. I am very fortuate to have a small "casita" that is not attached to our house that is my sewing/quilting room. So the creative chaos doesn't matter as much. When it gets too messy, I force myself to stop and put some things away. Project boxes work well for me.

Anxious to see your projects.

Hi Charlotte,
Thanks so much for your visit!!! Yes, I know there are some who really need ORDER from start to finish, but I just can't help creating messes when I get started, and even while I am creating!! The whole idea and effort of cleaning up is just so tiring and then I lose my creativity!
Guess I need some little cleaning elves to tidy things up, but it just works for me!! How nice for you to have your own special place that you can just work in and then close the door!!! I love project boxes or even bowls, too!!!
Hoping to share my progress soon and am hoping to have some to offer for Valentine's Day!!
Enjoy your week!

Oh yes, I can relate! And I love fabric strawberries. :)

Eileen said...

Julie, I can relate completely! I am lucky enough to have 2 workspaces; one for business and one personal. I've been doing some paper piecing and need everything left alone.
Yours looks a lot nicer than mine!

Julie - My Primitive Heart said...

Hi Jessica and Eileen,
Seems so many of us are part of the "Chaos" Club!! It is so hard to keep things neat when we need to see it all together!! I never tire of making fabric strawberries!! I've not done paper piecing but I know you definitely need to be able to spread all those pieces out!!
Thanks so much for your sweet comments and for stopping by!!
Enjoy your week!
